Diagnostic Essay Assignment
For our second class, this coming Thursday, come with a two-hundred-word essay, double-spaced, that gives your diagnostic analysis of the article entitled "The Appeal of the Androgynous Man" on pages 25 to 28 of our Strategies for Successful Writing course text.
Read the article using all of the strategies detailed in opening lecture. Then write your own essay that diagnoses the argument that the article makes.
Here are two examples from popular culture which give a context to the representation of masculinity that "Appeal of the Androgynous Man" portrays.
Example One, (British): "Shut up, Steve." (overdubbed American voices.)
Example Two, (American): "Where does he train to take a beating like that?"
This assignment has no independent grading weight, but is part of course participation.
